Here a bit about them..
In 1998 two friends, one a mechanical engineer / car enthusiast, the other – The original inventor of the Filofax and successful property investor, began a project that ultimately led to the founding of Newera Imports.
Miguel Varella-Cid & Paul Robinson had been brought together through Landmark Education, a company that encourages people to create and live with passion and power in what they’re committed to achieving. The training given by this company greatly contributed to the success of Newera Imports (http://www.landmarkeducation.com)
Paul & Miguel’s initial idea had been to start a bespoke Import Company to source cars through export agents and supply in the UK. However, upon realising the lack of integrity, knowledge & enthusiasm of many Japanese Export companies they’d contacted, Miguel and Paul realised the only fail-safe way to ensure they could get the best cars, was for one of them to be there, themselves.
In July of 1998, they flew to Tokyo, to explore the possibility of starting a company in the UK importing bespoke cars from Japan to UK and in doing so, bought the first two cars to be imported by the company.
In September of 1998, having quit his job as a sales engineer with a large Industrial Pump manufacturer in the UK, Miguel sold his belongings and rented his home with the intention of returning as soon as he could find a source we could be 100% happy with.
He never did find such a person or company, instead immersing himself in his passion for Japanese Cars and deciding his role would be to stay in Japan and develop Newera Imports from there.
Until 2000 Miguel also worked freelance for 2 export companies in Tokyo where he firmly established his reputation in the Import Trade – UK, as a knowledgeable buyer of quality cars with complete integrity in business. Working at auctions each and every day, he learnt the facts about each different model, common faults, availability, etc. From the beginning, he sourced cars for customers of the caliber he’d be delighted with – as if buying for these for himself.
Our very first retail customer in September 1998 had the confidence to invest in our services, and was rewarded with the best Skyline GTR V-Spec Miguel could find below his budget. The car far exceeded his expectations, and such was his delight, that he recommended us to his friend, for whom we sourced a 2nd GTR. This philosophy of providing only the cars we’d be delighted to own ourselves has continued, and thus Newera’s reputation has become widely known in the UK, especially amongst Japanese Performance Car Enthusiasts on the internet.
Nowadays, Paul is no longer involved with Newera Imports – but remains a close friend, who has moved onto other completely separate businesses.
Miguel’s still passionate about cars & continues to expand the range of services Newera offers. In 2005 we opened http://www.neweraparts.com and with the help of staff in Japan and UK, we offer the most comprehensive range of tuning and styling goods available – at low prices with fast delivery! To extend this passion our staff spend spare time working on project cars, to learn about tuning and performance.
Our Videos are also available, to show people what Newera Imports is all about, with a deep look into the amazing Japanese car scene. See Newera DVD/Video
Shortly to be introduced is a website forum and articles page, which will provide up to date information & provide greater online benefits & services for our customers.
