Alarm ECU on IS200/300
Alarm ECU on IS200/300
Hi Guys,
Does anyone have a close-up picture of the alarm ECU including its location within the car?
I've been given a schematic on how to hook up a shock/tilt sensor to the factory alarm, but I need a better idea of what I'm actually looking for so I can work out how to tackle the job.
I know the trigger wire needs to be spliced into pin4 on the alarm ecu as this is the bonnet courtesy switch but I also need a constant 12v source from nearby and also a cable that can act as 'ground when armed'.
Help appreciated as always
Jim
From what I've been told if there isn't a 'ground when armed' circuit in the stock ECU, we could use the ignition and a NC relay connected up to earth to simulate the same kind of thing.
I'm looking on RS components for an NC relay at the moment but they seem to be much less common than NO's.
Maybe something like this? http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/searc...2508852433
With that thing you bought, cant you just tap into the wire to the door switch?
so if the car tilts the circuit opens, the alarm thinks a doors open and voila alarm goes off?
Yeah you prolly can. I dont think it matters too much what triggers the alarm to go off, its just finding a decent place to hook it up.
From what I can tell it will need to be setup in such a way that its only powered when the ignition is off. In the instructions it mentions that it calibrates its self when powered on, so it cant be on when the car is moving.
