Yea snow/winter tyres are the same thing.
They are also great for deep mud.

Ok my budget might be a bit more but not much, you dont need a decent car just an old banger .
There is nothing better than having an old car that you dont care about.
Instead of being worried whats going to happen when you park it in a car park or driving in winter time .
I had an old 1 L or 1.2L "L" reg 205 , then a S reg puma for an old run about
Snow tyres are AMAZING, In Bulgaria I was driven about in a 5 series BMW in 1 foot of snow, no chains and it was still solid to the road, the Prius overtook a land rover that was stuck in the snow this last winter, Jay + Patrick in Sweden drives their turbo/SS Lex on snow tyres without a problem.
Get the correct rubber and driving in snow is not an issue.
Your £400 investment will last 4 or 5 winters (thats less then £100/winter), so why bother getting a cheap car that will let you down when investing in your current car is so cheap.
