Fitting Fog Brake light conversion
Fitting Fog Brake light conversion
Right lads, ive made up six kits for the fog/brake conversions as you can see here:
I'm trying to make it as simple as possible to install so you need really only one tool:
A Set of pliers that can strip and cut wire on the sharp bit and clamp the crimp on the end.
First remove the plastic cover around the arm on the passenger side of the boot and using a knife carefully reveal the wires in the loom.
Get the 2 wires that are Green with an Orange stripe
Cut the wires and strip the ends using the sharp bits of the wire:
Then twist them together:
Now fit the kit with the silver parts of the diodes (black things) towards the boot, and use the clamping end of the pliers to crimp them to the wires, squeeze hard.
Now run the wire along the loom back into the boot then remove the rear light by taking the 2 bolts out at the side (behind the covers that pop off).
Reveal the wires in the loom and find the Green wire with white stripe.
Now depending on the connector youve got.
If youve got a "scotchlok" then you push the wire in one side and clip it onto the green wire with blue stripe then push the metal thing down with the pliers and put the cover over.
If youve got the "choc-block" cut the wire, strip the ends as before, put one wire in one side and screw down, then twist the other wire with the wire from the kit and screw in the other side.
Now before you put the covers back on, turn the car to second notch and press the brake with someone looking at the back to check it all works.
Job done!
Alternatively if you find one of these:
Or even one of these:
Then use them instead of the pliers to crush the crimps.
Hope thats simple enough
They can still be fog lights, but they are the same brightness as when you brake, so technically when your fogs are on your back to only the original bake lights as brake lights.
Hi
Finally did the Fog Brake light conversion Sunday morning, had the kit from Sparkystav for a while.
Unfortunately the car alarm went off at 6am this Monday morning, first time in 10 years since I have had the car, heavy dew on car.
So I think that the coincidence of fitting this must be a factor but how?
All wiring had tape over/around and also over the "scotchlok" connection in the rear light.
Any ideas?

Yes mate your looking at the rear light,
If you open the boot there's 2 covers on the black edge of the light cluster, pop then off, undo the 2 bolts and the light comes out, then you can see the wires.
You can get to it behind the carpet as well though.
Done, looks pimping. Thanks Stav! I had a bit of a set back when one of the crimps snapped and I had to find an alternative, but some grade A bodge work has solved the problem.
