Porsche Carrera 4S
Porsche Carrera 4S
Hi,
Here is a writeup from a stunning Carrera 4S i was asked to detail. The owner, living in Germany, commenced his long journey over to me at West Sussex in the UK. This was booked in for a stage 2 paint correction, engine bay, wheels off and arch clean, calipers treated and 2 coats of wax.
This was the vehicle on arrival
First off, the wheels were removed
The tyres were sprayed in APC
And the wheels with Bilberry
Agitated with brushes
Tardis for tar removal, then clayed, polished by hand and finally sealed with Poorboys
The arches and calipers were sprayed with APC and agitated
And dressed with All Season Dressing
The calipers were coated with Gtechniq to aid future cleaning
Moving round to the other side
After Bilberry
Completed
The spoiler was then raised to be cleaned
A quick check of the engine bay
I used a selection of brushes and APC
The hood was also cleaned with APC
And gently rinsed off
The roof was then half taken back to gain access to all areas
At the request of the owner i then removed the rear badges as he wanted a cleaner look at the back
The vehicle was then snowfoamed
All door/boot and fuel shuts were then cleaned with APC
After being washed via 2 bucket method using Shampoo Plus, it was taken inside to be clayed. Very little contamination was present
It was then washed again and paint readings were taken. Expecting not huge amounts over 100 it was found there had been paintwork on the front but all was in good shape
The paint was then checked under halogen and led light
The car was then initially polished using the Makita rotary, 3M polishing pad and Menzerna 3.02, Sticky paint as expected was not ideal to work with, although the resprayed areas were much nicer. I chose to use 1 drop of Ultrafina on the pad to help with this which it did.
Moving around the car
The metallic finish was looking much crisper, still needing refining, although not the best photo
Once this was complete it was time to refine the finish. Due to the paint i chose to do this by DA. This would take longer but be nicer to work with and in my eyes create a better finish. I used the G220 with 3M finishing pad and Menzerna 85RD. The machine was not resting on the wing in this pic it just looks like it
Once all polishing was complete the car was dusted down and then IPA'd
I then applied Swissvax Cleaner Fluid by hand
The first coat of Swissvax Best of Show was then applied
The tyres were treated with 2 coats of Endurance Gel
Moving into the interior, everything was hoovered, leather wiped down, pedals cleaned with APC etc I also used APC on and underneath the gearstick area as the owner mentioned it can sometimes stick as though an old spilt drink was under there
All areas were then wiped down with Natural Look
Rubbers and plastics in the engine bay were treated with Aerospace 303
Exterior plastics including all seals and spoiler were treated with Bumper Care
Opening the roof up, this area was hoovered
All boot plastics and seals were treated with Bumper Care
The exhausts polished with NXT
The second coat of BOS was then applied
After polishing the glass, these were the final pictures
The final tasks were to re fit the plates and write out the service book before collection. I then went to bring the car outside for some more pics but unfortunately the battery was flat and i only had 3 hours for it to charge before the owner arriving. I was pleased to hear it start on the button when he arrived but sadly did not get any further pics. The vehicle was thoroughly enjoyable to work on and the owner was equally a pleasure to deal with.
Thanks for looking,
Christian
Stunning work as ever Christian
