'99 IS200 Central Locking/Interior Light/Fuel Gauge
Hi guys,
First post, be gentle and many apologies if this is in the wrong area. Signed up as the Mrs owns the above car, and loves it. I'm more into the Classic German stuff, E30's and E34's currently, neither are standard though!
Anyway, round to the point we come... Had the known Lexus issues with the Headlights staying on when they're mean't to be turned off and keys out car locked etc. Attempted to rewire the lot, but didn't work even with new relays so it all got put back to standard, ordered a few replacement parts off FleaBay and finally 3 months down the line, everything is sorted and works perfectly on the lighting side.
Current issues stand at;
Central locking doesn't work from the keys. Have a 2nd Master and a Valet key. Both lock the drivers door and start the car however. I've attempted all of the options in the Key Programming on the IS200 thread, and unfortunately, none of them register with any success. Any input appreciated, thanks!
Interior dome (half way back in car) only comes on with the passenger door opening. Can't remember if it ever came on with the drivers door or rear doors. Suppose it could be door switches?
Fuel gauge currently registers empty, even though it's definately got £45 in the tank! Could this be down to a faulty earth, dodgy sender or something else?
Any input on the various issues would be great.
Thanks,
Steve
Hi mate. The wireless locking and interior light are on the same fuse so try that first. Could be simple.
I'm on my phone at the moment but google 'bahamutcars fr' and you should fine a workshop manual for the lexus which will tell you which fuse.
As for the gauge I'm unsure. Could be a lot Of things as the IS isn't simple. It doesn't just register the tank sensors it counts how many times the injectors fire then compares that to the senders every quarter thank or so. But the diagrams may be able to help.
Here mate this shows you a list of what each fuse affects, may help:

Thanks for the input there guys, I have successfully solved the issue.
I dropped the battery out of the circuit in a bid to reset the ECU, and also pulled the entire fusebox from the O/S footwell, checked all terminals and connectors for oxidisation and cleaned where required (not that much was needed, but all terminals now shine!), then covered the lot in Electrical Clean Spray.
Put everything back together and made sure everything was in the right place and tight. Reconnected the battery and hey presto, everything works.
Not sure what I did differently to the first, second or third time I've had it all apart due to the headlight fault, but it must have been something.
+Rep for the both of you for the fast replies and information!
