I have an '99 Is200se Nav. The rear N/S shock has failed, and it needs replacing to pass its MOT.

Now Jim very kindly has given me a set of rear IS300 shocks off his previous car.

My question is, if I fit these shocks how much lower will my car be at the back, and will the front look silly high?? I have had a look on auto trader at Is300's and they don't look much different to mine.

Also my anti-roll bar drop link has worked loose since I fitted my Cusco anti-roll bars, should this simply tighten back up or should I buy a new one?

Was the later lower ride height down to the shocks or the springs? I always thought it was just the springs, and therefore couldn't you put your old springs on the new shocks?

I haven't got the tools to do that, and the idea is to keep the costs to a minimum. As soon as I start spending money on it I might as well just pay for the garage to replace the shock.
I'm just worried its going to look odd with the front end high in the air.

Hmm.....Just compared the shock length with an old broken one I had in the shed from my previous IS200. And they are the same length, I know thats un-sprung though. And the springs off the IS300 ones looked a bit thinner, so maybe they are a lower wieght?

Think I shall have to give them a try and see if my car sits lower. Fingers crossed they aren't too much lower then the originals.

There was a thread on this a while back - I think we found that later SEs were 20mm lower than early SEs and then also need to remember that the IS300 is 15mm lower than the SE.

Potentially your rear will be 35mm lower than it was before based on that, but interested to see what happens - please take pics! Smile

Thanks mate, but I shall try then on first. I want to lower the car anyway. So if it's too low will try find some front ones to match. Smile

Yeah, but I read on here that the newer the model of IS200/300 the lower the car was. Deans old 05 plate you could see was a lot lower then my '99 plate.
I figured an 03 IS300 would be lower then my car. Hence the worry about the back end being lower then the front.

There's the confirmation, seems then if you swap your old springs on to the new shocks it'll all be fine if these ones end up looking too low Smile
