Hopefully this is the right are but here is a quick write up on how i did my heater controls.

Start by removing the controls and removing the rear casing via the 4 screws. You then need to remove the 5 oem bulbs 3 for the dials and 2 for the clock

Next remove the circuit board by taking out the two screws from the small panel top left (hazards) and the two more on the main board holding it in. Once out remove the 2 screws from each dial and carefully remove them making sure that you dont loose the metal contacts as they are not attached. This then allows you to remove the light guide

Next you need 4 3mm red leds i used super bright ones from Maplins which were 64p each

Then swap the 4 leds on the board for the red ones making sure the polarity is correct else you wont know when things are on or off lol.

I bought off ebay a 5 meter strip of white smds which are seperatable every 3 smds

This cost £13.99 and was a great solution as it is insulated and is for a 12v supply as well.

These then need to the organised around the board in the following pattern

Now to do each of the dials i cut into the insulation and then folded the strips of 3 so that 2 of the are facing into the switch and hot glued them in place (a hot glue gun is essential to make all this work)

Then re attach the 3 dials ensuring the the trailing end of the strip doesnt foul the button opperation in any way and these are now done.
Now proceed to lay out the remaining strips using hot glue to cover and bar components on the board protecting from short circuits.

The whole lot is then wired together starting at one end and working round to the other end. Then on one of the strips closest to a light hole add an extra wire for the 12v feed and the earth. Here is a pic of it all in place

Finally remove the oem bulbs from the holders that came out from the clock and a 3mm led will fit in fine and can be wired uo ensuring that a resistor is added for a 12v supply.

Now the casing needs to be trimmed in places to ensure that nothing fouls (be careful when trimming as if it pulls on the fromt you will damage the fascia and it can be seen from the front.

Once all fitted back in i wired it all together so was left with 1 live and 1 earth coming out of the unit and re fitted it to the switched live from the lights.

Finished product with red switch lights

Apologies for the couple of upside down pics this is all off my phone lol

Kevpr Nice guide, never thought of using smd strips.

I tried 3 or 4 times with LED's in different configurations and ended up breaking the like guide trying to get an even light spread and getting rid of all the short circuits and fitting in all the wiring... Eventually I got annoyed with it and sat looking for alternative choices and stumbled on these, didn't know if it would work but thought it was worth a shot :-)

Looks very nice, did you try it with just swapping the bulbs with leds bulbs in white first?
If so who did it look?
I was think of just swapping bulbs with led one's.
