200SX S14a
200SX S14a
Right, here goes..
The hunt for a 200 began when the renewal for the crappy temporary 206
GTi I was running was MORE than a 200SX! So, I set about looking in the
usual places, PistonHeads, SXOC, Auto Trader and eBay.. I never even went
to look at one for 2-3 months. Then I found one that caught my eye, but
asking price was nearly twice the budget I was considering. I watched it be
relisted about 4 times before I finally contacted the seller, asked a few
questions, and made a cheeky offer, which the nice chap accepted -
although I wasn't able to fetch for 7 weeks!
Anyhoo, on the 20th May 2011, one of the local lads, Adi, offered to run me
down to Southampton to take a look and hopefully buy it. We also collected
my SX Guru Ryan from Bedford.
We got down there, spoke to the chap, poked around the car, took a few
minutes (about an hour) deciding if I should buy it and what offer to make.
Now considering he'd kept the car for 7 weeks, I felt obliged to stick to the
agreed price - again, nearly halfwhat he'd been asking.
Anyway, long story short, lol, I bought it, got it insured and brought it home
via Bedford (a la Photos 1&2) and we lived happily ever after.
The rather nosey looking chap is my Guru Ryan!
After finally getting home, and a ****** long day, I slept somewhat...
...and when I woke up, I went and washed the car and took a load
of photos. (Nothing different overnight, so just a few interior shots here.)
Since I didn't attempt to barter him down further, the seller included the
Alpine USB Head Unit, Bailey Dump Valve & Kit and various other spares
and consumables. Nice guy.
Within a few days I was itching to change something on the car so I decided
to de-brick the front end. Or remove the number plate plinth as others may
call it lol.
Whilst visiting a friend in Sleaford a little while later we got chatting about
exhausts, and he liked mine, and I liked his spare that he was going to cut up!
It also turned out that the one he had was originally custom-made for a
friends old 200, so we swapped and I also fitted a decat pipe.
A cheeky shot of new exhaust whilst in Towcester.
It was around this time I started utilising the Sales section of SXOC.
Firstly I got hold of an Apexi filter and adaptor plate...
...and a 6000k HID Kit.
It was around this time, July '11, that I ordered my wheels, fully
aware that it'd be a 10-12 weeks wait. Hey-ho, that allowed time
and money for other bits to be ordered and paid for.
Another cheeky shot featuring some home-tinted indicators.
In early Sept '11 I attended a RR Day organised by one of the local
lads and despite worrying that mine would be down on power, it was
quite the opposite! Even the operator asked if anything else had been
done! To say I was happy was an understatement!
About a week later, I ordered my suspension. HSD HR's were chosen
for their reputation and price, and I'm very happy.
Tyres were ordered the same day, in readiness for the soon-expected
wheels...
A cheeky shot in Sleaford, just after the coilies were fitted - Oct '11.
Finally, after 16 weeks, and sailing several thousand miles my
XXR 522's turned up. 18" all round 8.5" Fronts and 9.5" Rears.
On said vehicle - Nov '11.
Finally with the front dropped a little more, and clear lenses
side and front - Jan '12.
Lovely looking motor fella, love the wheels, they look spot on!
Not that you can tell in any of the photos, but the bonnet was quite
stone-chipped, the bootlid faded and 3 small areas of rust were
trying to form so the car was booked for a respray and went in on
31st Jan.
I had also been collecting parts, in particular a Jap-Spec rear bumper
and some OEM Spats.
On 17th Feb I collected a rather dark and shiny looking 200!
...and a shot of that fat @ss! Exhaust being changed again soon!
...and my favourite shot so far!
Lots more coming soon, very soon
SHAHZ Lovely looking motor fella, love the wheels, they look spot on!

Looks awesome dude, defo one of the best front ends ever!! You have done the main thing that needs doing with styling - lowering on nice wheels! Very nice job!
Really good power btw... was there something that the old owner forgot to mention?
Future plans?
Look forward to seeing it...
This things sounds awesome! Was looking very fresh last night, great paintwork.
Love the stealth look about it :thumbup1:
Cheers dude. I can look at it without feeling I have to spend money on it now.
Mmm, S14A !
