couple of quick questions
couple of quick questions
Hi, hope everyone is well, I haven't been on here much recently for a number of reasons, however I need a little help with a couple of things
Firstly, Calipers, one of mine is binding, nsf
I don't do fiddly jobs as its too easy for me to screw things up, I don't even change pads myself, is it best to replace both front calipers at the same time? and how much should I be looking at for new calipers as i've seen refurbs can sometimes seize quite soon so may be a false economy?
and secondly, Do SC430 Alloys fit IS200/300?
Cheers
Rory
well the callipers can be picked up fairly cheap on ebay however you cant always be guaranteed they wont be seized or fail soon after but having said that i wouldn't buy new ones either unless you have very deep pockets as i don't think they are cheap
a company called Big Reds do a calliper repair kit.
my suggestion would be to buy a set of second hand callipers and refurb them your self it will probably still work out cheaper in the long run.
do you have a garage or mechanic you are friendly with that could do it for you if your not to good at fiddly jobs
there is no need to replace both side as far as i know but that being said if one is failing the other might not be far behind so it does depend on finances etc
I would pick up a single professionally refurbed caliper from somewhere like Brakes International. Probably cost you about £100, plus a deposit that they give back when you send them your old knackered caliper. Having refurbished brake calipers before, I know it's not a job I want to do again, and paying a garage to do it will be a good few hours labour.
yes they do mate ive been looking at a set for mine....
