Noticed this morning when I started the car that my outside temp gauge was showing -21C! I turned the car off and on again thinking it was a little blip but it showed the same. I didn't drive the car at all yesterday and there's no signs of anyone bumping into it or anything so I'm guessing the sensor has gone faulty.

Is this a big thing to fix? Or expensive? How do I fix it?

Thanks

I have the same problem some times. Although my sensor doesn't lie, unfortunately :tongue_smilie:

Hmm, well hopefully it'll sort itself out but otherwise is it an expensive fix? I guess its just the sensor that would need to be replaced.

Patrick, glad that it actually isnt that temp over here!

Well hope it does sort itself out as I noticed that it was affecting the climate control as well.

Yeah, the AC won't switch on if it thinks it might freeze the condenser.

Sensor itself is (I believe) attached to the underside of the crash bar on the front, passenger side. I would replace it with a known-good 2nd hand one (from a breaker or somesuch).

Will I be able to get to the sensor without having to take the bumper off? I didnt have the AC on btw as its broke anyway (clutch doesnt engage on the compressor. Think the compressor has had it) but the heating was set to auto for the fan speed but upon adjusting the temp it didnt seem to change much, probably as the car thought it was so cold outside!
