Standard Alternator
Standard Alternator
LOL yeh that's a clever one that one? i like how it switches between batteries and has the thermal cut out built in, then it disconnects the 2nd battery when you turn off the car keeping it safe:thumbup1:
Ive just had to buy a new battery.
my plan is to use the second battery for starting only.
so it'll be only connected directly to the starter,
the normal battery will still run everything else including the starting circuit, and the second battery will just be for cranking the starter motor.
that way if the main battery is being overpowered the car still starts then the alternator takes over and everything is spot on from then.
Sounds like a good plan that Stav, :thumbup1:
Found on mine recently that if the battery is really low the car drives **** until it charges up again,
and the battery in the skyline is tiny plus its in the boot so not the best set up, due to the distance it has to go to get to the starter/alternator?
so might have to think about this myself if i keep the car?
well i was thinking ill only need a piddly little skyline battery in the back for the actual cranking as thats all it does, wont take up too much room then
and MarsdenDean, believe me, im not even scratching the surface with ideas for the Lexus.
Got LOADS floating around in my head
standard batteries should not be used in the boot..
Only AGM/sealed batteries should be used. lead acid batts give of toxic fumes.
Unless there are plans for a hell of a lot of power requirements a 2nd batt shouldnt be needed.
If you got a good batt at the front (odyssey/ kinetic) you should be ok..
Im on a single oddyssey and its only at shows etc when i sometimes have probs..
