This is probably a basic question but before I tighten my alternator belt on the is200. Is there a tension locking nut and where would I find it. I can see the adjustment bolt.
Thank you for your help guys.

Iirc theres 2 tensioners i cant remember which is the 1gfe.
there's a tensioning pulley to the left of the alternator.
Should be a threaded bar beside it. Turn that and the pulley will move up and down tightening or loosening the belt.

Or it may be on the alternator. Once again a threaded bar but you have to loosen but not remove a small bolt to let it slide first. This should move the alternator up and down on a pivot.

Loosen the bottom bolt too mate (it has a nut on the rear), or you have a chance of breaking the cast bracket that holds it in place if you don't!

Makes sense bandit. The alternator moved freely but I see we're your coming from. The locking nut was hard to see at first. All sorted now. Thanks mate. G
