When you see things like this basically they'll try and read every page they can and then index the content so that it's searchable on Google - you'll notice ones from other search engines on there too, plus a lot of the time the guests are also search robots either with different user agent strings or coming from different IP ranges to those that are hardcoded into vB
It's basically another word for a robot - basically what the search engines use to go and crawl the internet for content
