jsj24uk If it's an LS, then I wouldn't touch it with a ten mile barge pole. Your buffer for maintenance will last all of ten seconds. These are not cheap cars to run or maintain.

Just found a 1 owner, low miler with full lex history all at one dealer. Not in the colour I wanted, but its probably the most sound buy

Eek. Tbh when I get one it wont be seeing a dealership or genuine parts. Reason being, that I just missed out on an LS430 that had done 250k, but had been maintained from new by Lexus with over £22k of receipts. It was in good nick, but only sold for £2250!

I don't think the dealers are completely out of the question on older cars, the rates I get now are quite reasonable, my last service cost something like £180 - not sure a decent independent would cost a lot less.

@Jim: Do you get discounted servicing too for your LS?

That's a really good price, that can't be standard rates. And all I can say is  at the micra service price!

I haven't seen it in England, but interestingly all the car repair places (worth their pay) out here are machining disks before putting on new pads, the solution to "warping" disks is to remove disk run out, by machining the disks on the car.

Chrysler and Scion (others are also affected) have an issue with disk run out because some their hubs are not exactly flat, causing the feeling of warped disks. Machining on the car removes this tiny bit of out of tolerance and a firm steady brake pedal on previously "warped" disks.
