Right, feel like a rite *** for not checking this but too late now,
I went out to the lex a minute ago to get a takeaway and when I started the engine and all the belts started squealing at me......... There is a small puddle of frozen water under the car so I am guessing that there was no antifreeze :Chair:.
Hoping that the core plugs have done their job and popped out or even the rad has burst and left the block without cracks...........
My question is:
If I put antifreeze in the rad and left it to melt, then drained the rad and filled it with antifreeze, would it slowly work its way through the engine?
Any other ideas are greatfully recieved but so you know its parked outside on the road about 10 miles from my house so unless I tow it I don't have a nice warm garage to thaw her out in.
Cheers in advance
Hmm seems an odd one, did the engine run at all?
Really would suggest getting it towed and thawed before running it again
It ran but the battery light was on and the volt meter said 9v only ran it for 15 secs max, just hope I ain't cracked the block, I'm stuck in the missus Clio until so time is deffo of the essence lol
Hmm odd. That sounds like the alternator but that has its own belt on the crank so would have spun with the engine even if the water pump was frozen.
But if the water pump belt was slipping, wouldn't it be slowing the crank/ engine down with the friction which would cause the alternator to spin less this create less charge? Just an idea as I thought it was odd as well, guess I'm gunna have to get the garage warmed up lol
