Soun ds like we need an Outlaw engine building weekend to get you back on the road.

What condition are the bores in? Can you get away with a simple ring replacement, or will the block need honing as well? If its just a ring change then thats fairly straight forward. Just a new gasket set and a few hours work.

Outlaw engine building weekend sounds like fun!

Sorry to hear you are having issues with the mx mate. Having been in a very similar position with an old mx myself, I know how you are feeling.

Just stick with it mate - will be worth it in the end!

Will need a set of piston rings and the block will need to be honed.

Thinking i just buy a new block, although i may end up buying a shitter again Sad

Have been offered £50 refund by the breaker. He won't give a full refund as i have dissasembled the engine etc and to be honest i will need to return a engine to him which will cost me more time and hassle than its worth.

umm not good at I know its not much at least you got some thing back how much for a set of piston rings £60? to get the block honed can't be much, could the smoke be from valve guide worn or did you use your good cylinder head

Piston rings are about £120. Not sure on getting it honed.

We used NEW valve sten seals both times and we used my cylinder head which is mint.

You saw the condition of that engine Scotty, it was fecked!
