el_bandido Not sure who you are insured with but the IS200 is much cheaper to insure (for me at least, 24 year old male with no previous insurance record) than pretty much any other car. The IS300 was cheaper to insure as well, I just couldn't afford one at the time. Focus/fiesta/clio/corsa etc. were all 400-500 quid more expensive to insure.

your IS is not worth 5 grand. What kind of quotes have you had on the IS250, just out of interest? I can get insured on an 07 plate for just over 500 quid. I'm only paying £660 for the is200 now, with 1 years ncb.
People on this forum always price them way under market value, in the real world an SE with similar miles to mine goes for 3.5-4K. Quotes for the IS250 have been pretty much the same give or take £20 though.
Lexuspat i value my IS at no more than 3k which is fair but i pay well under the values above with 3yrs NCB

Okay, clearly all the similar aged IS on auto trader, ebay and similar are pricing them completely wrong. If you manage to sell your car for anywhere near 3.5k to someone who isn't mathematically disabled, I will drink my own p*ss.
Sub 100k sport
or this sub 90k 02 plate se
or possibly in blue, a sub 100k 04 plate sport
let alone ones that have been modified/faffed about with, or before you've even started haggling. Who the hell is going to shell out another 1500-2000 quid when you can find those in 5 minutes or less.

No not really most insurance companies look at thr Forces as high risk,
Your insurance goes up if you live in barracks or where I live its high because its next to and RAF airfield
Forces really do get a raw deal with some
Whoa Koss you're grumpy today :p My cars are insured for what I paid for suki, what it will cost me to rebuild Sachi less paint job cos they wouldn't cover that and what it would cost me to import another Hiccup .... None of those prices equate in any way to what I could realistically hope to get from selling them.
And have you told your insurance where your car is now cos I can't see that being as cheap as home
