Fry-Up i do drive like a proper granny tho lol

That's still amazing, I've tried driving like a granny in the IS200, and the best I could get out of it was around 28mpg, and that was with a lot of dualcarriageway driving as well. So around town that's an amazing figure.

Are there any other Jap cars looking at? Other than toyota I mean.

What are the differences between the IS200 and RS200?
Other than the engines I cannot really find much information about them. The RS200 has near enough the same engine as my MR2 and I know people who manage 30-35mpg in them Smile

I forgot to add something, the car has to be reliable. Last thing needed is for him to jump in to try and go to find out that something is screwy.

The auto Altezza is very slow even in RS200 guise (3sge engine), its very different to the manual version which is fairly quick.

The Altezza RS200 will also cost on insurance because its an import. The only difference between the IS200 and Altezza is the Alltezza does not get a good interior, and a bit less sound deadening. The IS200 is only a re-badged Altezza with Lexus standard interior.

I would look for a good IS300 - UK spec and ultra reliable.

2tongues The auto Altezza is very slow even in RS200 guise (3sge engine), its very different to the manual version which is fairly quick.
Why is the manual version that much quicker than the auto?
There is only 10hp between them.

So basically an Altezza is a Lexus IS200 with a different engine and lighter weight?

2tongues I would look for a good IS300 - UK spec and ultra reliable.
I've been having a look, they all look the same to me to be truthful but I am still in the car choosing stage. I have noticed that the IS and Altezza look amazing in black :thumbup1:

Black does look good if you invest the time to keep it clean.

Dont forget their so much more than Lexus you have Honda Subaru Mitshibushi, Toyato, Nissan ect:

So i would take your dad out to view many different models before choosing.

Hmmm, beg to differ on that one, don't find mine to be any slower than many of the other cars I have owned, might be the flappy buttons on mine but it isn't a slow car IMO.

Toyota Altezza Z Edition.

Was overtaken by a 1.6 Focus just couldn't get neat it, it was standard with no mods that I could see, normal exhaust so no boy racer....... it was the car I had from the 300bhp IS200 though so everything felt slow.
