Stav best thing to do is watch a video of the g220 being used.

I hold mine in a relaxed grip holding it against the paint but not pushing down to hard, basically just holding it on the area rather than forcefull.
What pad are you using?

I'll do it tomorrow if I can find your addy . And you are better putting a black pen mark on the yellow backing plate rather than the pad

Yeah put a marker line on the backing plate, chances are you're pressing too hard and it's not even spinning all the time. You should be aiming for 1 or 2 revolutions per second and work on a 12" x 12" section. You don't say what pads and polish you're using though, too harsh a compound or pad will leave holograms (I think this is your problem) that need finessing with a finishing polish. Jap paint is also very soft so you may be using a combo that's too aggressive for it.

Im using a meguirs finishing pad (only one i have at the mo) and a meguirs polish that came with it,

Karlp the only real damage you can do is by accidentally dropping the unit on your car.

Or leaving the g200 on the same area for ages.

Dont expect to much straight away it take two or three attempts to get it right and then your be glad of your purchase...

The only thing you need to allow is time

hmmm might give one a whirl, what sort of starter kit should I look for?
