Stoney If you want 4WD, I would again suggest Audi Quattro! lol

I believe the Imprezza to have the same engine/gearbox/4WD system as a Legacy, so I wouldn't expect any better. Possibly higher insurance too.

I think you're probably right that the Germans are the option that cover all bases - but within that budget wouldn't you be looking at something really old or with quite high mileage?

2tongues Impreza is 2L,Legacy is 2.5L, but same everything else.

You are correct. I forget! The older Legacys were 2.0 though, and the newer Imprezas are 2.5!

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

Looks like we are both right - now this will get confusing.

Just been looking at all of the 2L and 2.5L Subaru's including the turbos and they're more or less all the same mpg. So as you guys have said it must be down to them having AWD, same engines and gearbox etc. There are so many of these cars for under £2k, it's a shame the insurance and fuel prices are decreasing their value.

I think my only option is to increase my budget and I think the Accord Estate is the best option ATM. The 2.2L diesel is 140bhp as standard but after a remap it'll be 185bhp. That is alot more than the non turbo'd Subaru's but I'm not sure how that compares in the real world with one being FWD and the other RWD.

Been looking at Accords like these. I think for now I'm gonna have to buy with my head and not my heart!

Rolex Corrolla D4D

Just had a proper look at these, they have less bhp than my mondeo and weigh more so that is going to be slow! Definitely won't be wanting one of those.

I seem to have overlooked one, the Mazda 6. I really like the look of this one as well, anyone know anything about them?

mazda 6 is a rebadged for mondeo

What about a corolla t sport, 3 or 5dr hatchback, 35+mpg with 190bhp and you could pick one up around the 2k mark

Doesn't surprise me, the early fiesta was the same as the 121 wasn't it. I guess parts would be fairly cheap then?

Just had a look at those Corollas, not a bad shout, certainly look the part. Insurance is similar to that of the Accord Tourer and Mazda 6 Estate. There's 2 things putting me off, the boot is probably too small, there's less space than a focus/mondeo. The tax (VED) is alot as well, I was hoping for something that's under £200 a year. One to think about though, don't you have one?

The boot is pretty big, I have a three door and I got a 4ft aquarium in the back (seats down obviously) not so long ago
