Traffic cops at a cruise a few weeks ago were about to give racestyle a fine for his square plate on his Supra! Forunately his actually is an import so he's allowed one Smile

And technically to be legal you need the name of the company who made it, including postcode and phone number now I think. And there's some weird little number that goes in the corner too?

I'm sure if Ormi see's this he will be able to give a definitive answer though.

EDIT: I'm not moaning by the way, just letting you know so you're not surprised if you get handed a £60 fine or fail your MOT. lol

I'm actually considering using a Jap style plate on my Legana too :whistling:

Yep no ****, they were just being awkward for the sake of it though I think.

Possibly, there are exceptions for cars which have been designed in such a way that it does not allow the fitting of a standard oblong plate though.

EDIT: haha, the censor picks up on that word even if I replace the 'i' with a '1'

I have wording and a blue outline on mine too.

The plate is large enough to fit standard UK font.

You will need a large pair of Nikon binos, preferably on a stand or tripod to see the manufacturer's details and postcode though.

These should do....

Agree'd, which is why most people get away with it. But if you turn up to a cruise or a show and your car is sat in the same place for any length of time while traffic cops are wondering around it may be spotted...

looking on the website i got it from as long as it has the bs number and the post code of the company you get it from and right spacing and the correct lettering
just found this
What's the British Standard for number plates?

The British Standard sets out the physical characteristics of the number plate. This includes visibility, strength and reflectivity.

The British Standard also requires each number plate to be permanently and legibly marked with the following information:
•The British Standard number (currently BS AU 145d)
•The name, trademark or other means of identification of the manufacturer or component supplier (The company that made the plate)
•Name and postcode of the supplying outlet.

Other options:
•A non-reflective border

Euro-symbol with national identification letters
think i should be ok apart from the outlaw japclub part but will keep old one in boot just in case

The other piece of detail on the plate is this...BSAU145d

I don't see what the problem is?
They have to be legal or that company wouldn't sell them

Mine passed the MOT with them fitted.
