Drive a scooby first. It won't be anything like you expect - they actually feel quite light and nimble for their size and the 4WD isn't too intrusive.

I'd get a rev3 turbo Smile But that might just be because I missed my MR2 for the first time last week.

You could look at legacy GTB, 280 BHP from the factory and in estate very practicable.
Ideal for dog transport at speed.

The GT4 vs MR2 discussion comes up quite a lot on one of the other forums I use. The consensus is basically that the GT4 is a more sure-footed car (so you can drive it faster with more confidence) but the MR2 will out-handle it as long as there is grip. Obviously out of the box the MR2 has more power at the wheels but it's so rare you find either car these days that hasn't been tinkered with to some extent. The MR2 is more fun, the GT4 is slightly more sensible. Or thereabouts.

You see ever so slightly more engine failures with the GT4. I don't know why that is, whether it's a heat issue, transmission putting more stress on the engine or just owners not being so careful.

that's what i wanted to hear..i dont feel confident driving my '2..an audi TT (dont know what model but ****** quick!) flew past me the other day, i chased him but when it came to slight bends (at speed) i felt like i would lose it.i played it safe and couldnt keep up..so the main thing im after is handling, with a car that performs like my 2 is currently, or with loads of tuning potential.
twotongues-i'll check the legacys out, but tbh i think it would be going too far away from what im after, regardless of power. they are great for estates..but in the twisties?

There shouldn't be any stock TT faster than your car except the current shape TTRS which you can spot a mile off because it's got a fixed rear spoiler!

Its no GT4 or MR2, but great for moving lots of things quickly - much better interior then the slightly smaller Scooby and GT4..

Well i dont think it was stock, it absolutely flew. seems to pick up quicker initially, and i kept up but wouldn't have passed it

2tongues-you're right, but im leaning more to the fun side rather than practicality. i do want something more practical than the '2..but that's most cars to be honest.lol

Dunno if its the right view to take but i always look at celicas as MR2s with the engine at driving wheels at the front. Obviously the 4WD would make a difference. The only experience I've had with anything 4WD was a Nissan GTR and that would sooner chuck me out of the seat than let got of the road so i doubt a GT4 is quite the same and im definitely no expert on the subject.

after scrolling through a few forums, the general consensus is that the gt4 is slower in a straight line but for the average driver much better round corners, and im presuming generally feels more planted on the road due to the extra weight. my mr2 feels like it would be fantastic on a track..but on the road..not for me! i havent driven a rev3 though, so haven't written mr2's off completely...
