DIY custom supercharger parts list
Jobs to finish are wire up the black box & SC clutch, fit the air intake temp sensor and plumb in the vacuum line to the bypass valve. Thats about it.
Hopefully it will run ok, I'll get some pics up

23-02-2025, 03:21 AM #191Well its been a long time coming but ive very nearly finished my SC conversion! Will be running this weekend all being well.
Jobs to finish are wire up the black box & SC clutch, fit the air intake temp sensor and plumb in the vacuum line to the bypass valve. Thats about it.
Hopefully it will run ok, I'll get some pics up

These pics are just where i was cutting all the hoses to length and trial fitting everything.
Hopefully I'll have it complete this weekend. More pics to follow

I get a loud hiss of air from the bypass valve whenever you come off the throttle. I assume this is normal but ive not heard anyone mention it before?
The whine from the charger back through the air filter is louder than I expected. Although this is a twin cone stainless steel one. I have a single cone cotton one on they way to me which might make it a little less noisy.

21-03-2025, 08:34 PM #197so i've done done a few miles in it now and driven it at motorway speeds and all seems to be well. I was worried that i was going to run into surging problems to do with the bypass valve but at the moment it all seems good. Time will tell i'm sure

The only issues ive had is a boost pipe popping apart on the bypass which was easily sorted and the belt screeching which i think is because its not tight enough as it only starts above 2000rpm
Oh and i decided to block the other vacuum port on the bypass valve as to me this just seems a boost leak and that seems to be an improvement too

26-03-2025, 08:27 AM #200After almost a weeks daily use and over 200 miles its running well and it drives much better than standard. Its different to what i expected, but then i have never driven a supercharged car for any length of time.
