MK Gearboxes are good - Tavistock Street Bletchley.
Filthy grubby place but know their gearboxes.

Cheers for that Phil.

After all the fun of the Nissan over the last month or so it's time to get back on this! I properly bolted in the gearbox today with the new rubber mount that I got from Toyota (new bolts too - I only had shitty ones and I doubted they were up to the job).

Here are some pics, some decent detail of the mounting bracket, prop, shifter position and how the gearbox sits. With it all bolted up you can select every gear as long as there's no trim on! It means I can at least build the car and use it before getting the gearbox work done. You can also get an idea of just how clean the underside of this car is!

Then I fitted the custom front subframe to the car for the first time, to do some more measurements. It looks like the engine mount on the driver's side is in the right place, so the one on the passenger side needs to move forwards 30mm so it's in line with the driver's side one.

Bad news is it looks like the head WILL contact the clutch master cylinder. But we shall see.

Auto diff purchased Wink Lowers the rear ratio from 4.1:1 to 3.9:1. Short of fitting a cobra diff (new rear subframe, custom driveshafts) or the HKS final drive kit (3.7:1) both of which start at £2k this is the best I can do to sort out the final drive ratio so it better matches the R154.

It has since occured to me that as the previous owner was running an R154 in the car, it may already have an auto diff. I need to find out if there are any external marks on the casings to indicate which final drive they have, or if not open them up and count teeth!

I have worked out another easy option for moving the gearbox rearwards a bit more as well, but it remains to be seen if that will cause engine mounting issues or not. I suspect it will stay where it is.

Clutch relocation if it has to happen will involve a pedal box, likely a Tilton 600 or similar.
