it might be a silly question but how do these things work - the codes i mean ?
for example jaysons car has two fault codes showing up
but could it be just one fault ie the speed sensor which is triggering the second code or will it be two separate issues ?

thanks Stav, any idea how I would reset the code from ecu for the gearbox?, is it normal that their are 2 diagnostic points, 1 in the engine and one in the car or is it just on autos it is like this?

Phil thanks for the recommendation, my only problem is driving to mk, I have frustrated enough people on the roads as it is already by not being able to do over 40mph so m1 or back roads might not be a good idea, somewhere local would be good

my problem is everyone wants to plug their own diagnostic machine and charge for it when all I really want is someone that can change a part for me because everytime someone diagnoses it they want 50 quid, a good mechanic in northampton would be good

I wish that was the case for me lexusboy but ive been charged by every single garage including lexus at £50 a pop to tell me the codes, lexus milton keynes would not even answer any questions i had, I asked them about the codes and they said they were all related to the throttle body, that was replaced and im still where i started. I just need someone genuine to have a look at it for me. I just wish I knew exactly what it was

Any advice or help is always appreciated

Have you tried re-setting the main ECU at all? doubt that'd do any good but worth a try, as for the autobox one I ain't a clue soz mate don't even know if it's possible, does sound like a faulty sensor TBH but may just need the codes clearing.

40mm Lowering Springs, Re-sprayed Front, 6000K HID's, Re-furbed alloys, Bandit Induction Kit (cheers Chris), Raised boot spoiler with LED, Blue calipers with silver decals, De-badged rear, Chrome Oil Filler Cap (thanks to Chris again), White LED dash bulbs, Blue a/c control bulbs, Blue door markers and interior lights, Sony head unit, Chrome Lexus tax disc holder, TRD side skirts, Original Saloon Front Bumper re-fitted instead of Sportcross

you mean reset the ecu by clearing the codes or is there another way to reset it?

i know it is probably something really small but finding itis the problem, mechanics are quick to take my car but when i call them 2 or 3 days later they say sorry i havent had time like they are doing it for free and it gets annoying, they say they cant spend all day on my car which is fair enough but i just want an answer really

thanks Phil but mk is too risky to drive the lex all that way, i wish i had a tow truck and my aa cover will take me there but wont bring me back and i dont fancy driving the car back if it is still broken in that condition
