IS200 Cam belt and water pump
IS200 Cam belt and water pump
Oh also is the water pump just for the IS or do any other models use the same one e.g Avensis, Celica and so on.
Andy-R- Have you checked the by pass pipe 'o' rings? Coolant can leak from there.
The rubber 'o' rings can harden over time and coolant can leak from there.
How would I be able to check them can you do it without taking the pump off?
Also I'd asume the belts are set to a specific tension is this correct? or could I change the pump myself if need be and then just pull the belts tight when it all goes back together.
Just been and had another look but I can't see where it's coming from, I can't say for certain it's defo got a leak now after looking again, there's a little bit of coolant which has gone all crusty underneath the pump and some at the back but it's defo not leaked onto the undertray and i've only had to top the coolant up in the expansion tank today for the 1st time in 2 years and even then it wasn't even half empty, maybe i'm looking for problems that aren't there and being abit paranoid.
ormi you are kidding!!!!!you have been bent over and they havent even taken you out for tea!!!!!!
2.5 hours for the belt but you only get an extra hour for doing the water pump which works out to be 3.5!!!ooouuucccchhhhh you got charged an hour and a half more and the job takes a max of 2 hours thats inc the water pump.
i've done a few for some of the members....working for toyota has its upsides...

The time for the service has come. I want to collect all the parts , belts, water pump, spark plugs from internet. I know that the manufacturer of the is200 v belts is mitsuboshi and i read somewhere that timing belt is manufacturing from gates power. Do you know if thats true? Has anybody use gates belts especially the timing belt that is the most important? Also any suggestion from where to buy?
Gates drive belts are a very respectable company, specialising in many unusual applications,
VAG use many of their drive belts as OEWM applications, they also manufacture rubber couplings to transmit power to injector pumps, vac pumps etc.
I have used "Gates" in the past and would have no hesitation in using them as a drive belt.
