VAT may of been a bad example as it only applies when your turnover is something like £73k

You would have to include VAT into your hourly rate though and this would effectively be coming out of your pocket

Remember you can't make money if the government isn't getting any of it! lol

Vat applies at 50k turnover, or it did when I registered for it... Flat rate is the one you want though, specially in my line of work, charge at 20% and pay the vat man at 17%... Free money (kinda)...

Sam could give all the details I'm sure...

IS200 Sport - Sold
Mazda 6 MPS - Zoom Zoom!

Ian - I think your onto something with the driveway cleaning thing!!!

Ive googled it for the rugby area and only found two local companies, one in coventry and one in daventry, the daventry one charges around £100+ for a normal sized driveway, the cov one i dont know about as you have to ring for a quote but I imagine they are in the same region.

Ive just checked the main local paper and nobody is advertising the service, just need to get the secondary local paper and check that to.

Im also doing the costings of equipment, found a supplier of equipment, and trying to figure out self employment taxation etc etc.

Would you mind putting me in contact with your friend that does this? I know companies dont normally help competitors but I think were divided by enough land that he wouldnt mind telling me how to set this all up out of a van?

I already have a marketing strategy, pricing strategy, and it looks simpler than it probably should be.....the only overheads I can see outside of initial setup costs are fuel/water/insurances/breakdown cover,.....i cant think of anything else :S

I had an idea years ago that i didn't do anything about..... Man Utd toilet paper. Every sheet has a different players face on it (and Sir Alex of course). All the Man U fans would buy it cos it is Man U, but everyone else would buy it just to wipe your **** with their smug faces Smile It would even go global :kiltsmilie:

JDM black headlights, rear fog light conversion, JDM size number plates, JDM rear number plate garnish, JDM dash tray, wind deflectors, TRD body kit, white TRD gearknob, TTE lowering springs, TTE ARB's, K&N air filter, stainless steel A/C rings, stainless clock cover, radiator cooling panel, LED side light bulbs, blue reversing bulbs, fan washer jets, clear side repeaters, PIAA silicone wipers, Alpine IDA-X200 headunit, 17 x 8 et40 OZ Ultraleggera with 225/45/17 Toyo Proxes T-1R

My friend does window, drives, gardening, painting, and DIY so should he be bored of one of these he just moves to the others also should the weather turn you always have some thing else to fall back on.

All he uses is a karcher when doing drives sharp sand think that just a couple of pounds a bag and a broom. a set or two off ladders for windows and painting dont forget people need conservatory cleaned as well.

It the window cleaning that is your bread and butter as you should be able to do three or four an hour, not sure the going rate in your area but my avarage is around £15 per home depending on the windows and how hard they are to get too.

Yeah the rotary washer ive seen is karcher, found a decent sized water tank, jsut need to figure out what pump/pipes i would need.

Not sure I'd go for the window cleaning aswell, think i would start with one service and build it up from there, there are over 500k homes in rugby, sure i could do more than 10 driveways a week? make a grand or so if i charged £100 inc VAT?, got the sand and bricked noted down.

It's obviously different in different areas but I'd be a little annoyed if I hired someone for pressure washing and they rocked up with the washer I've got in the garage! When we've had it done they come with proper huge petrol powered machines.

Having said that there is a lot of money in garden related work, currently looking to have some fencing done and put up a new shed and the quotes are coming in around £5k! Confusedcared:
