spend the cash and get it in an ultrasonic cleaner tank - it will be spotless and has the benefit of cleaning every single part of the engine - inside and out.

I redone all my engine bay as it was filthy , allot of my alloy parts I could not clean that well so I ended up spray painting them with alloy paint from FROST... Same paint they use when they refurbish old units like water pumps..alternators etc etc
