I've never understood why Mazda did that. The UK spec MX5's all had pull to flash fitted but the imports didn't. It seems strange that the stalk's were fitted with the switch but not used in Japan. I've occasionally wondered if it's down to penny pinching in a domestic market that doesn't legally require flash to pass, Or if Mazda had some other reason not to use it?

Added a bit of bling to the interior. I didn't really like the gear knob in Maz so I started to look on eBay and places for something better.

And found a nice chromed ball on eBay, bid on it and got it.

A few pictures......

The existing one.........

and the new one fitted.......

The only problem I couldn't screw the knob right on as someone had previously damaged the lower part of the thread on the gear stick.....

So The only option was to try and cover it. I had a couple of bits of plastic tube that came with the car and is supposed to go inside the old knob as an insert.

So I cut this to length and slipped it over the gear stick and screwed the new knob down on to it.

Feels really good in the hand. The only problem now is it might be a bit cold on a cold winter morning Confusedcared:

OK for now but I think I might see if I can get the gear stick out and re-thread the top. I did try to run a die down it but you just can't stop the gear stick twisting and I didn't want to damage it where it's fitted in the gearbox.

Yer it's quite long actually, could be better. I'm also finding its quite difficult changing gear when cold. It's better when warmed up but I think I might look at changing my gearbox oil and I think there's a small amount of oil directly in where the gear stick goes, so might have look at that too.

Still absolutely loving it though. Was out over the week end again with the top down all the time

You'd like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320877400293?s...500wt_1287

Although I can't see how the guy can sell that for £1500, the body kit and wheels must be worth that alone
