Finally picked up another toy to play with  been searching for something cheap and cheerful for a few weeks now and found this on ebay,

The seller had advertised it as a Mazda RX5 Roaster, and it never had any views in the 5 days it was on there :confused1: i only found it by looking for something else so added it to my watch list? And last Sunday i put a bid in for the £500 starting price to see what would happen? and i won it :thumbup:Big GriniscoStu:

So today i went over to see it and pick it up, all of 6 miles away  it hadn't been started for over 6 months, so took a battery with me and put it on, and to my surprise it started on the 2nd turn of the key! Ran a bit rough for the first few mins then ticked over great, took it for a quick spin round the block and paid for it?

The bodywork was covered in a layer of dust and was very discoloured, looked quite pink but after a wash it looked better, the front end has been resprayed above the number plate and is a lot darker, but not hard to sort out and there are a few nicks and knock around the bumpers, but the rest is pretty good for a car that's 22years old?

Few pics after a wash, and also started to clean the paint a bit to see what i have to play with?

You can see the difference in the paint here, used Mequiars Paint Cleaner Wax on the front end that i picked up at the meet yesterday......

Passenger side after the paint cleaner, rear end very oxidised....

Bonnet before.....

Bonnet after cleaning...

Engine bay is pretty clean, but that will change soon and hopefully it'll be a lot better (shiny parts Big Grin )

Momo Race steering wheel, and chrome bits....

TT Style Chrome 4 point roll bar....

Starting to look better already? its fitted with the MOMO race steering wheel, Clifford Concept G4 alarm system, BBS wheels, chrome heater vent surrounds, chrome door handles, chrome gear stick surround, chrome handbrake lever, the hood is only 7 month old and its the Mohair hood not the canvas type, Even the Air con works  So got a few bits on it to start me off, and think i got a bit of a bargain to be honest

The only problems i've found so far are, drivers electric window doesn't work but sounds like its just stuck? Passenger side window very slow, heater is a bit intermittent, front bumper wants a respray, wheel centre caps missing, and that's pretty much it :thumbup1: Drives very well and had a big smile on my face bringing it home, even had the roof down, handles amazing and even had 3/4s of a tank of fuel in it

Will give it a service asap and take it for an MOT, so i know its safe and road worthy after sitting for a bit of time, the sills seem fine from what i can tell (common problem), had a good knock around them and seem very hard with no soft spots or rust showing?

What do ya think??? :whistling:
