No i'm in agreement with Moley, my 2000 IS2 one press locked and alarmed, indicators flashed once, 2nd press deadlocked (double locked, however you understand it) and de-activates sensors and indicators flash a further 5 times,
my 2002 IS3 is the same but second press indicators only flash once more not 5 times more
The confusion here is over the age of the vehicle.
On the earlier models that double lock automatically a second press on the lock button deactivates the interior sensor for the alarm, for if you want to leave an animal in the car or something. On the later models where you have to press the lock button a second time to double lock you can still deactivate the interior sensor using the method that cptthunder said above. As I said earlier I'm not sure when this was changed I think it was probably around 2001.
Mines a 2000 v plate, one press locks the car and 2nd press deactivates the interior sensor? use it quite a lot with the kids and dog :thumbup1:
As Dave says above in 2001+ they used the new system for some reason? from reading in the past some of the 1999-2000 models didn't actually have the deadlock system fitted?
I think we have derailed this slightly from what Rab wanted so go get back on track
car year: 2004
Car model: is200
drivers door lock status: B
Just to confuse everyone even more.
I did a bit more testing on mine at the week end. just to check hat everything is as it should be now.
As you may of read earlier in this thread mine wouldn't unlock by using the key in the drivers door. It's now been back to the bodyshop and they have fixed it.
Now I can lock and unlock the drivers door by using the key in lock but If I lock the car (and activate the alarm) by pressing the lock button on the remote then unlock using the key in the door it still doesn't actually unlock the car.
Now after locking using the remote the alarm is armed after about 30 seconds, if you watch the red security LED on the dash it is solid and then flashes after 30 seconds. If I lock using remote and then unlock using the key within this 30 seconds all is fine the door unlocks and the alarm doesn't sound. BUT if I lock using the remote, wait 30 seconds until the alarm is activated (Red LED flashing), then unlock using the key the alarm goes off and the door remains locked.
What worries me is what happens if your battery runs flat in your remote or it gets damaged??? It would appear that you can't get in at all!!!
Incidentally there isn't any instructions in the owners manual on what to do if your remote doesn't work.
Perhaps someone could try this on their car to see if this is correct.
I'm really confused by that, is there some electronics involved with the door lock then if it unlocks with the key when the alarm is off but doesn't when the alarm is on?
Also does the alarm go off just by turning the key in the lock? That's not supposed to happen, the alarm on my car only goes off when you open the door, not when you unlock it.
There's something really weird going on with your car..........
The key should open the door, and the alarm stops a short while after you start the engine. That is the backup if the key remote dies - was the car always like this or only after the bodywork?
