i've been told the next car has to have reasonable rear leg room due to little one however she did say i can have what ever I want 
Just seen the dyno graphs for this supra (the 2UZ) it's chucking out 620lb/ft of torque and 420hp awesome

Thanks for the responses, I wasn't in any way trying to imply that the IS200 is a more desirable car, just that many have great passion for the Supra which I don't have. It certainly was never a car that turned my head, customised ones do but in terms of the actual car never paid much attention to it. In fact of that type the 300ZX was probably the one that caught my attention more.
I understand the respect for the machine that lurks beneath the body though - and Dan it sounds like you should just get a supra as wanting one for this long is unhealthy :tongue_smilie:

sooo lemme start
1) this conversion is simply stunning, all that's missing is a manual box, i've never seen a car with such subtle presence, it doesn't shout 'look at me here I am' it's just there and you can't help but feel even if you were in a super car and this was in your rear view mirror you would happily pull over and let him past.
2) what I love the most about supra's is the engine, the sound of the 2JZ-GTE (especially with a Ti exhaust and single turbo). That coupled with it's looks I honestly can't see a angle of it that it looks bad from, curves in all the right places springs to mind
3) I would take a R34GTR over a supra yes, but not any others not even the new GTR, the R34GTR is a awesome car and can be used in all walks of life, you have to say if you put a like for like hp R34 and supra round a track and the R34 will be quicker guaranteed.

I agree...with number 1 and 2 I do agree. The R34 is quicker on a track and on corners than a Supra is well noted but the Supra will out strip a R34 on the straights and over long distance and that is fact. How does one know ....simple Ive proved it to an R34 owner.
Despite the lower engine size the 1 JZ GTE is fundamentally a Supra. The 1 JZ GTE in the Lexus Soarer is a Supra. The Soarer was built as the grand tourer and at the time the fat boy yanks didn't like the Supra's original shape so this is where the the Soarer came in. But at the same time the concept of the Soarer was taken further by the boffin;s at Yamaha , TRD and Toyota with the aim to flatten the Skyline...and it did.Very few engines even today have been built to a 650bhp spec, as standard and the 1JZGTE was.
When we did a meet a couple of years ago we headed down the A1 to Peterborough and up front was a 300ZX R33 and R34 who where playing catch me. Now I've never used the power of the Soarer and when I have its TRACK only but today was ....who;s the daddy day. So dropping off the over drive I sat on the **** of the R33 ,,he gunned it right upto 145 when the Soarer shot passed. Now annoyed the R34 OVERTOOK ME WITH A HELL FOR LEATHER intent. Stupidly I followered and failing the odd roundabout the R34 just couldn't through me and on a full chat run the 1 JZGTE simply sailed passed a very annoyed R34.
At the JAE show I was unpacking the tenting stuff on the Soarer site when these 3 very large chaps stood over the Soarer's still warm bay...is this yours mate was one of the remarks, ERM yeah ,why!. You stuffed me on the A1 AN HOUR AGO...The R34 chasing you was me . Transpires that at 168 he just couldn't keep up with the Soarer on the straights.
The R34 relies on tech stuff to do its business where the Soarer Supra 1 and 2 JZGTE use common sense approach to motoring.....if it don't need a management system or extra ECU then don't fit it.
Now I adore the R34 Vspec and is a true easy drive of a car. Docile until need it is truly pound for pound the best Jap car on the market. Sadly that's where the wanting stops. For me and many others its not just the outer skin on the car that does it but the engine is.
The JZ GTE series of engines are quite simply a true work of art and on full chat are simply spine tingling

So true Purple babe. it is a matter of taste. Ive never liked the 300ZX, but I drove one recently and wow what a car. I picked up an Enzo a few weeks ago for a good business friend who was out of the country and needed it back in Hull for his return. Now that's a hell of a car and blistery fast and has that goldfish bowl effect where every one stairs and looks in. Comfort wise, horrible, ride wise, harsh, luxuries erm none, power and poise....priceless. Each driver and fanatic here has their dream car and mines both the Countach and Diablo VTR, we all enjoy cars and its great to discuss it here and have a laugh..................................Supra s better Dan, nah nah da nah nah...lol
