Something's wrong
About a mile away from home today my car started behaving really weirdly - every time I touched the throttle the traction control was set off, and when I braked (even quite gently) the ABS was coming on.
I was convinced I had a flat tyre, and from the way the car was behaving I was sure it was the left rear.
As I was so close just thought I'd nurse the car home and check it when I got back - so imagine my surprise to find all my tyres are fine! Worst part is the car felt awful, it did actually feel like I had no grip rather just malfunctioning TC or ABS..........
Does anyone know what could be wrong with my car? :confused1:
look underneath and see if your anti roll bar is still in place?
Hmmm, I hadn't thought of oil - I had a feel over them to see if I'd worn the insides or something and it didn't feel greasy but I'll check again in daylight.
The other thing I'm wondering is could it possibly be a TC/ABS fault? If so what are the chances they would both fail at the same time, are they connected in some way? It kept feeling like the back end was trying to step out under braking but that isn't necessarily a lack of grip I suppose, it could be an uneven brake bias - is that plausible?
Bit worried, think I'll take it out for a quick spin in the morning, if it's still the same I'll have to get it towed to Lexus as I don't feel at all confident taking it up to any speed in its current state :Sulk:
TC and ABS systems are interconnected. They both use the same sensors at the wheels. Chances are one of the sensors has gone dodgy, so the systems will be getting false readings. Im sure there will be a way of getting the error codes for the system. Someone more knowlegable than me should be able to shed some light

parthiban If it is an electronic fault though, should I be getting some sort of warning light on the dash or would this type of fault not flag up anything?

I have known the sensor to be at fault, as you know it contains a magnet and this can attract rust/debris and as it is close fitting in the hub/boss can cause a false reading making the abs/trc light to flash and operate, all that is needed is a simple clean up of the sensor and housing and refit making sure the sensor is fitted correctly, using the other side as a comparison.
If I remember the guy with the nice red IS200 and whose dad has the same red IS200 suffered the same problem after he had done some suspension work on his car. cant remember his name.
Well remembered Phil, that would be John G..... Here you go mate, looks like your sensor has moved/become loose!
