steviewevie Further to this, and me thinking about the HTC Desire Z, it's emerged that the DZ (and its G2 sibling) have some sort of protection on the internal memory, meaning that it's set to read-only. So right now it can be rooted but you lose that when you reboot (the writes are cached but not saved).
There are a lot of people working on cracking that protection though, and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it's overcome.
That's interesting that they're locking it down, slightly goes against the google ethic doesn't it?
You don't actually need rooting really, mine's only rooted to apply the lagfix, otherwise it wouldn't be.

23-09-2017, 12:47 AM #103Looks like Samsung have a big press conference next Monday (8th), speculation has been they'll be announcing a Google Nexus Two phone, though that's been denied in the past by both sides (not that the denial means a lot).

So Froyo is now officially available via Kies? It's about time!

Cool, I know the ones on samfirmware at the mo (JPA/JPO) are supposed to be the official ones but I hadn't heard that they had been released yet officially (although it is rumoured to be imminent).
Good news though, was thinking about flashing to this one, but may as well just do the official one now
