Hi everyone,

Just has 100Mb installed by Virgin this morning.

Similiar to what I did previously when I had 50Mb, going to carry out a small review and long term performance check on the connection.

So there installed it this morning after offering me an unbeatable deal

100Mb Broadband, TV M+, and Phone M.

Free Broadband Activation (normally £30), Free Installation (normally £49.95). £60 off first bill (normally current offer £50) and £10 off per month for rest of contract. And not forgetting the £142.50 cashback via Quidco !

Heres the first test, ive done on the broadband, not happy with it just yet:

and tried again:

Upload is top class, but download I would have hoped of atleast over 85Mbps?

But its early stages and hopefully it should go up? if not, will ring them !

also only 2.7 megabytes per second literal download speed via rapidshare Sad

Right seems like Firefox doesnt like to download fast !

Ive tried it with JDownloader and highest was 9.74 megabytes per second this reflects on the speedtest carried out. At full should be at 12.5 megabytes per second

Only have a 10meg connection but mine is bang on 10 meg 24/7, I also thought you'd probably get a quicker speed than that if on 100meg, keep an eye on it for a few days and then call them if it doesn't get faster.

yep problem with my line they have said, in advanced setting in the router pages, it shows to have power connection of over 11, and this should be between 7-10 to get full 100mb speed, so they going to send another techinician on monday to fix it !

not a great start, and yes they customer is no better, had to speak to three different people before getting through to the right number.

I had someone come out a few months ago because I also had too much power on the line which was making my connection cut out intermittently - they just put a filter on it and now all is well again Smile

There might be a few teething issues but once it's sorted it'll all be fine, we've been with VM for years and have had so few problems over that time.

I am on 50meg and always get 40+ download speeds. This will be doubled in the next couplef of months too. I would be expecting more from yours.

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

I'd love to know how the f**k they're supplying that much bandwidth to people. It's *so* expensive to rent transit from peers these days, and given the way these services have rocketed in the last 5 years they can't possibly still be relying on deals made by NTL, so where TF is it all coming from?!

Presumably they rely on the fact nobody is using all their bandwidth all the time and it averages out across the customer base, probably to about half of what they promise as a max...? So long as they're still faster than the competition, that's what really matters to marketing...

IS200 Sport - Sold
Mazda 6 MPS - Zoom Zoom!

Modifications
Completed:

Currently 280bhp/295lbft; 3" Meercat custom exhaust; KW Suspension; FMIC; SSP; HPFP; Custom Stainless Steel Dials - for the moment, the only set in the world!! (Till the group buy for MPSOC anyway  )

In Progress:

E-Tuning remap ongoing via Cobb Accessport; Braided brake lines; Stubby aerial; Tinted repeaters and sidelights; 3 Port Boost Control Solenoid; 3" HTP Intake
