Who's the best phone/BB provider that's decent but not too expensive? Don't need lightning speeds, just a solid, reliable connection with unlimited downloads at a reasonable price.
Also looking for a freeview HD PVR - any recommendations?

I've been tasked with sorting out this stuff for my sisters place up north and having been with virgin media for so long I have no idea what to do (annoyingly the area isn't cabled)
Who's the best phone/BB provider that's decent but not too expensive? Don't need lightning speeds, just a solid, reliable connection with unlimited downloads at a reasonable price.

Check on here: http://www.samknows.com/broadband/broadband_checker and http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_search and see which service providers are listed in the bottom right for her exchange. Use one of them. They are the ones who will have the edge in service and reliability over a.n.other provider, running off the back of BT.

Sky's only good in areas that they have unbundled - i.e. where they have their own kit in the exchange. I stick to recommending O2 round here for the same reason but it varies greatly depending on your location.

toxo Oh I forgot, avoid Tiscali/Talk Talk at all times.
Parents been with them since they started and never once had a problem. We had them in MK and LB for over 10 years without ever having a problem. Parents don't even pay for broadband they get it FREE for being so loyal.
I fail to see why I would avoid them?????

Didn't actually realise you could get Sky broadband without the TV, reasonably priced so I'll look into that.
Also forgot that Virgin do internet down the phone line too so need to speak to them about any offers they might have for existing customers.

Interestingly I spoke to TalkTalk earlier today as they do appear to be one of if not the cheapest but the earliest install they can do is 26th October which is too far off.

Can definitely get sky broadband without the TV, I've got it... I picked the fibre option, supposed to be up to 40mb but we're getting up to 28 according to speed test...
