Marsdendean Throu rapidshare which i use quite a lot, i can normally download 1GB of data in around 3-4 mins

yh rapidshare is all i use, i have had 20mb with virgin before and it performed perfectly so I have no doubt that 50 mb would be much better performance,

lot of videos on youtube showing people actually get 51

im just concerned with rapidshare would I actually be able to download at 6.25 megabytes per second which is what 50 megabits actually is

can rapidshare provide such speeds, or is it limited

i can remember once when i was on the 20Mb, i was getting 2 megabytes for about 20 secs, question is, is rapidshare limited?

With virgin you generally get the speed you pay for - I've got the 10meg (all I need really) and it's 10 pretty much all the time.

Check out avforums, or other forums like digitalspy (I think that's the one) for more info Smile

yh will do, i just dont want to get it and then realise rapidshare have a speed limit,

if i can get like 4-5 megabytes per second then i would be very happy !

to get 6.25 which is what 50Mb is, i will be gobsmacked

i have also just realised virgin want 20 activation fee, and 35 installation (no self installation available on 50mb)

so wont be able to do it till i can afford the upfront fees

however they offer 30 day money back if you not happy, so can always test it !

Yeah that's the best thing, can always drop down to the 20mb if you can't get the full speed.

How can you do self installation with Virgin? Or do you already have the wiring installed?

Marsdendean I also pay £46 per month for evening & weekend free calls to landlines, XL TV & XL broadband.

Have you got the discount they were doing at the time they lost the sky channels too then?

We've got effectively the same but swapped around, XL TV, XL phone and L broadband for £45 a month I think.

(which is still really cheap when you compare to sky)

yh they call it quick install, and cause i was with them previously for telephone, tv and broadband, i got the cable already there. but you cant do quick install with 50mb, not sure why as its no difference to 20mb equipment wise

I dont think so, I wish sky would send me new terms and conditions which then I can refuse and cancel my contract !
