There are a few peeps on here who have done engine conversions, check out the project thread area of the site. Smile

I am in the same possition of you, love the car, but lacking power. Like Matthew said above, it'd be cheaper and more cost effective to buy a IS300. Although quite a few people are doing well at tuning the 1G-FE, getting some impressive bhp too.

I guess it depends how far you have taken your current car. Think my current plan is to buy a IS300 next yeah, and swap all my mods over to it. As most the chassis is the same. Then sell my IS200 to help towards the cost.

If you want a fast car buy a better base for the project like the is300dino or by the time you have spent the nodding money get an is350 via import.

On the other side of the coin, none of us would bother with any engine mods, minor or major, to the IS200 if it was just a matter of what's best for the money. There's more to it than just getting a faster car, if you want something unique, an interesting/challenging project etc, then buying a standard car that happens to be faster just isn't going to compare.

If I had just wanted a faster car, I would have just replaced my IS200 instead of doing the turbo conversion that I've got.

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

I was thinking about this a while ago and looked fairly deep into it, out of the two I would go 1JZ for few reasons

- it's cheaper/easier to source
- just as tuneable
- actually revs higher than the 2JZ

Take a look at SammyB's thread as he's currently doing this conversion

You could do something different and go for RB power from a Skyline.
