Gotta say looking at Keiths car that it looks good with the washers in as well - and the front end looks so different and so much better with the de-tango'd headlights

But I do prefer the lack of spray all over the bonnet (was reminded of it in the courtesy car I had yesterday, and don't miss it Smile )

In terms of legality, having washers is the least of your problems. With HIDs it's also illegal not to have auto self-levelling and an incorrect reflector.

Mine has always got through its MOT except the last one where the beam pattern didn't comply (new machine or something) but the nice people at Lexus just swapped them over for halogen bulbs and passed it

It's not illegal to not have self-levelling, since that's a requirement for new vehicles, not aftermarket HIDs.

The status of aftermarket HIDs is somewhat questionable. The DoT issued a statement saying they "believe" them to be illegal, but for them to have to use a word like that and not just say "they are illegal", shows that there's still some uncertainty and lack of enforcement.

The issue of your headlamp washers spraying your bonnet when you wash the windscreen depends on your model year. My early IS200 (1999) has a separate button for headlamp washers, it's not linked to the windscreen washers.

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

Ahh fair point, I guess there is a bit of uncertainty around aftermarket HIDs, which is why I'm not too bothered about whether I have washers or not as I'm sure if they wanted to they could create trouble.

Yep I've got a separate button too, but when the headlights are on, first windscreen wash also activates the headlamp washers :Sulk:

steviewevie Russell, I wonder if the mesh in your bumper is different somehow, did you get one of those bumpers without the mesh then get the mesh separately ?

Well I am starting to wonder, the bumper has come with mesh which is supposed to be Lexus so we'll see I guess. I am picking the car up this evening so shall see and post some pics.

Thanks for the pictures parthiban and keith both look good actually :thumbup1:

I am wondering bout the washers now though as my HIDs are factory fit so may require them? agree with the lack of overspray on the bonnet as a bonus though Smile Guess i'll find out on MOT time I guess, they have the self levelling etc

Also - does the undertray fir back on okay with this bumper?

Is yours an IS300? If so then prob best to keep the washers as that keeps everything legal - Originally IS300s that were fitted with styling kits had no washers, but Lexus actually replaced bumpers with those with the washer cutouts for owners that raised this issue as by law cars with HIDs need to have washers as Steve said above.

I don't think there are any problems with the undertray, it's a proper Toyota/Lexus part at the end of the day so is designed to fit properly Smile

There's no specific legal requirements for your headlamp washers to stay working once the car isn't new. My previous car had factory HIDs, and the self-levelling kept going wrong, but it was never an MoT issue (it's not tested in the MoT).

So in theory you could remove the headlamp washers and it wouldn't be an issue. It does help if you keep the headlamps clean though, i.e. to reduce the possibility of dirt on the headlamps causing unwanted beam deflection.

It would be interesting to have a photo of the bumper in question so as to be able to see how the mesh looks compared to the other photos already posted.

Bumper's been fitted, I don't understand what the bodyshop means to be honest, as the mesh I think would cover the parts, I spoke to a different person when I picked it up and he said that when he was trying to fit it the TTE one sat closer and was touching and felt that there would have been conflict with the bumper.

I'm not sure what either was going on about but I like the bumper as it is though

Looking good

For horn repositioning, see my thread here. It's the same on the IS300 as on the IS200.
