toxo What fuel do you normally use and when was your fuel filter last changed?

Fuel filter is in the tank mate so not sure? use BP ultimate or tesco 99, car runs pants on V power for some reason?

New plugs fitted last night and re-gapped them to 1.1mm? after a bit of searching about found that the NGK BKR7EIX and the Denso IK22 plugs are gapped to 0.8mm but to get the optimum use out of them they should be re-gapped to 1.1mm on the is200? took the car out this morning and its like a new car again, Power when cold and no more stuttering/misfiring :w00t: so a Happy Chappy again

Yes mate, the lexus factory fitted iridium plugs are gapped as standard to 1.1mm and not 0.8mm!

The plugs i have fitted now are denso plugs and gapped at 1.1mm which are the same as the factory fit items?

My understanding was that you weren't meant to regap iridium plugs because the tips are quite brittle and you weaken them if you try and gap them. That's why they're meant to be gapped right from the factory...

This doesn't quite tie up with that though: http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk/pages/techn....htm#regap

Yeh i know mate, as long as you don't use the iridium tip to adjust with and just adjust the end earth bar, they should be ok, the iridium tip is quite weak from what i know and can break off if forced to gap them? better off using a set of pliers to grip the earth part and gently bend it to the size you need instead of using one of the blade type gap setting tools that pushes against the electrode itself?

The new Toyota plugs i got all had different gap sizes, so i've set them to the factory standard size? one of them was gapped to 0.6mm some were 0.8 and the rest were around 1mm?

Car seems happy at the moment though so will see how long it lasts

Let me know if you figure it out. Mine is ridiculously loud (way louder than any other MR2s I've heard). I think maybe mine doesn't have an insert fitted?
