dodgydave but did notice that you can't unlock it with the key. That could be a problem if your battery goes in your key fob Sad

Are you sure? The alarm stays on, but on mine it unlocks the drivers door.

Yes, I double checked this morning and had a look to see what it says in my owner's manual and yes I should be able to turn the key anti-clockwise to unlock.

I will try again tonight with my other keys but I can't see that that should make any diference.

The thing I'm wondering, I have just had my car repaired after my accident and the drivers doors was renewed, maybe the bodyshop hasn't put the lock back together correctly.

The owners manual states on page 35 that cars without double locking will lock unlock all doors from the key but cars with double locking will only lock unlock the drivers door.

You can tell which you have as the windows state double locking on a sticker unless you have removed it.

not sure what age car this was introduced though.

I think all UK IS200s and 300s have double locking it would only be anything that has been imported i.e. Altezza. But the method of double locking changed. On the earlier ones double locking was automatic just by pressing the lock button on the remote, on later models you have to press the lock button a second time within 5 seconds to activate double locking. I'm not sure when this changed all I know is my first 200 that was 2000 reg did it automatically and my 200 I have now, a 2004 reg, you have to press the button twice.

No Dean, it activates the deadlocks, which means even from inside the car the locks can't be opened (there's a warning in the manual about that too) so anyone in there ain't getting out...

I thought if you pushed the lock button twice you deactivated the motion censor for inside the car. As if you lock the wife in the car when you go out she wont set off the alarm LOL

no twice sets both double lock and alarm. manual page 151 gives instructions on how to set without alarm.
1. close all doors, trunk and hood.
2. with the drivers door opened, push the power door switch to lock then unlock three times in succession. complete step 3 before 5 minutes have passed.
3. close all the doors, then push the "LOCL" swich of the wireless remote control key once
