G220 Polisher
G220 Polisher
I've been having a look around and I can see that a new version, V2, is out or about to come out.
Now there are a few places still selling the V1 for around £120/£130 and the new V2 seems to be selling everywhere for £199. I know some of you guys have the G220. I would appreciate your advice/comments; is it really worth getting the V2 or should I just buy the V1 and save my money, or would you recommend something completely deferent?

I dont know what the difference between the 2 units are but i think the G220 is the best bit of kit i purchased for cleaning the car. its still hard work but i can get a great shine on mine with it and if used with the correct cutting agents removes 90% of swirl marks i aim to get them all out lol
dodgydave I think there's a few minor improvements to the V2 but the main one seems to be what they are calling "Cruise Control". Basically it uses electronics to sense when you apply pressure and maintains a constant speed :biggrin:

However, £200 for the V2 is extortionate IMHO. You would be better off getting the Kestral DAS-6 with the pads and polish for soft paint - see here
Or just go straight to rotary, don't believe the horror stories you read about them, just take your time and apply some commonsense.

24-02-2018, 04:38 AM #7Definitely don't get the V1, they were plagued with problems and that's the reason I sold mine before they started. Normal issues were with the brushes wearing prematurely, the speed control breaking and the screws coming loose so the thing fell apart mid detail!

I have a Silverline rotary now that cost me £35 delivered and although I've not used it yet I have met a few of the traders/detailers on detailing world and been to one of the Dodo meets. All you need is commonsense to use one, you would literally have to hold it in the same spot for several seconds before it burns through. Keep the polisher moving and you'll be fine.

I bought one as that was the only available DA in the UK at the time, shortly after the DAS-6 came out, which was alot cheaper. The kestral, pads and polish can be had for less than the cost of the V2. I would also suggest you try and borrow one first and see how you get on with the vibrations they produce.

I've got the Kestral DAS-6 and i am very happy with it. Can't remember where i got it, but i got a package with Sonus pads and a Sonus 3 stage paint correction polishes. It got most of my swirl marks out, and if i had spent a bit more time i'm sure i would have got it looking better.
JDM black headlights, rear fog light conversion, JDM size number plates, JDM rear number plate garnish, JDM dash tray, wind deflectors, TRD body kit, white TRD gearknob, TTE lowering springs, TTE ARB's, K&N air filter, stainless steel A/C rings, stainless clock cover, radiator cooling panel, LED side light bulbs, blue reversing bulbs, fan washer jets, clear side repeaters, PIAA silicone wipers, Alpine IDA-X200 headunit, 17 x 8 et40 OZ Ultraleggera with 225/45/17 Toyo Proxes T-1R
