if you get a proper tinter to fit it you wont see any cut outs mate..
Yeah I've never really looked at it that closely but I'd imagine where the mirror meets the windscreen looks black anyway, so if the tinting is done properly you wouldn't really notice it - even if you did it would probably just look like you have a rain sensor or something
The law or regulations are based on VLT or Visible Light Transmision. This is the amount of light passing through the window and is measured with a meter. For the front side windows the VLT must not be less than 70%. This is calculated by using the correct measuring instrument by first taking a light reading from outside the car and then another from inside and the machine will calculate the VLT. As most cars these days are tinted by the manufaturer you will find that any additional tint on these windows will drop the VLT below 70% and is illigal. Apparently so I've been told Vauxhall cars actualy have the VLT etched on the glass, I don't know if this is true or not.
For this reason any reputable window tinting company will refuse to tint the front windows. If they agree to do then walk away.
My daughter got pulled over a while back in her Yaris which had all the windows tinted when she bought it. The police had the required measuring instrument and the front windows had a VLT of something like 20%. They where quite good as they just issued her with a ticket and we had to remove the film and get it verified by an MOT test station. Allthough I must admit the MOT test station dosn't have the required instument to measure with so they could only sign the ticket to say that the film had been removed.
Incedently I'm getting my rear windows tinted this Saturday and the VLT I'm going for is 18%.
Mikey is200/s13 Ive got minne done bit on the big side but i like it, i tinted it from the inside but my mirror is the one that attached to the roof so a bit simplier. last time i knew you were allowed a 6in strip but that was time a go.
I won't name names but some cars with standard glass won't pass....
only from the first floor window
Plus ask them to see what film they will be using make sure it is Vehicle grade as some tint companys use Architectural as its cheaper & is quite a lot darker from inside the car.
My tints are not very dark but you carnt see in unless the light is on in the cabin but when i look out the window only looks like ive got a very slight tint on.
