I've just taken delivery of a new radiator hose set for the IS, and was planning on installing the upper hose tonight. Is there much coolant in there, or can I pretty much pull it off without worrying about putting buckets underneath to catch it all?

I had a quick look through the rad cap last night, and there was possibly some coolant pooled in there, but couldn't really see for sure.

there should be water in there, remember your water system should be pretty much air free.

Really?? Its certainly not that!

With the engine off/cool all I think I could see in there was about 1mm worth of coolant running along the bottom of the hose.

My worry was if I removed it, would just that 1mm dribble come out, or would it kinda equalize everywhere else and spill out a load of coolant from the engine and rad.

I should just wait for when I get the S/C installed, but if you know me. You'll know how hard it is for me to 'wait' :p

Definitely should be plenty of coolant in there. I'd be draining the radiator to fit those hoses.

Sorry Sad I feel like a total let down now.

I would go back and change it but it wont let me.

"Can I shake my black hose dry?"
"Will warm smelly stuff go everywhere if i pull my hose of?"
"Will I leak over the floor if i take my hose out?"

Any of those take your fancy?
