Apparently there's more than one type, with regards to bulbs, can anyone confirm what the difference between 'old type' and 'new type' and also, what year they changed?

My car is 2002 and the bulbs are hb4, they twist into place like most or the other normal bulbs, does that mean they are the older type? If so, do the newer type fit??

Old type which was phased out in 2003 is HB4, like the bulbs in the headlights.

The newer type is H3 and has a waterproof plastic cap and a metal spring clip to hold the bulb in.

Unfortunately not, you'd have to find someone breaking an IS200 with the newer style connectors and get them to chop them off so you can solder them onto your own wiring loom.

******, one of mine is a little fish tank now, there's a pair of dark ones which would go nice with my dark headlights but they won't fit, and I don't do soldering and other general faffin

Yer that's exactly why they changed them, people found the old style ones were prone to getting full of salt water and then just corroded away as they are aluminium.

You could always take the foglight off and just tip the water out and dry it out indoors for now, and if you really want they can actually be taken apart like the headlights and sprayed black.
