Quick question - Self levelling headlights on the RX8 not working?
My mate's 03 RX-8 headlights are pointing too low to the ground. He reckons they should be self-levelling as he can't find a switch anywhere on the dash to adjust them upwards a bit.
He's afraid of taking it to Mazda as he reckons he'd end up in a "Pants down and lean over this desk please sir" type situation.
Anyone got any suggestions for how to check/fix the problem? Or even if there's a way to adjust the lights manually?
This should help mate !
If he looks under the rear of his car on the n/s/r he'll see the self leveller it's attached to the suspension arm he'll find it's broke or a terminal has corroded, what models it?192 or 230?hid's or not?and does he have a warning light on?
a 230 ps has hid's as standard., check to confirm if it has got headlamp washers.
the 190ps had halogens as standard and no washers
The RX8 has a warning light on dash if self levellers are not working,
P.S, on Mazda when self levellers fail, they fail in the highest position, causing blindness to others
They don't get stuck on the highest if the rod brakes at full compression ie hitting a big bump then the lever that controls it will be in the up position theirfor be stuck on the low position.Dave remember the black 230 that sat out side the work that was chris's the apprentice that's what happened to his..if the lever isn't snapped check the terminals theirs a plug with three wires in it..
Ps a toyota one fits it...
Were does he stay?
Sorry, forgot to get back to you on this one...
Ormi, he stays in Livingston...
He's had a look under the car but all he can see is "a wire and a wheel". I get the impression he's even less handy than I am!!!!!!!!!!
He reckons it's down on power as well, and he's getting about 16mpg, he's been reading some forums and one of them said something about coils needing changed? Any idea if this would help? Service history shows services but nothing about coils...
Appreciate the help guys
The spark plugs are prone to going as well as the coils and the plugs are very expensive so are the coils.he's looking at a big bill...
