Sparkystav Some people are just pathetic,

MOT testers should be required to show customers the rule that shows a failure IMHO, instead of what they interpret as the rule

Absolutely.

If a Lexus dealership is citing MOT rules that are almost a year out of date then it does kinda make you wonder if they're keeping up-to-date with more important changes to the testing procedures?

(maybe I'm just being OTT, but this kinda thing does really nark me right off)

the free re-test I believe just depends on the induvidual MOT tester, I may be wrong on that tho

also Regtransfers give a clearer outline of what is required on a number plate:

Sparkystav Some people are just pathetic,

MOT testers should be required to show customers the rule that shows a failure IMHO, instead of what they interpret as the rule

we do...its in reason for failure..its all pre typed we cant change failure text their is also a ref number which mates to the numbers on the mot manual.
we can write what ever we want for advisorys though....
me personally i see no problem with the plates..

Ormi Shame other dont follow your course of testing.

Strange how different MOT testers respond differently.

Surely its should be the same result where ever you take your car.

It should be the same result, however some of the rules are down to the inspectors "opinion" and of course how much whisky is "accidentally" left on the back seats.
