Hi all.

This is my first post but I have been lurking and searching for a couple of weeks, before signing up (after a nice PM from a member on here through LOC).

Anyway, I WILL make a mod / maintenance thread for my car but for now I have a question.

I have searched high and low and there is no great detail to fitting a home made cone filter with silicone 90 degree bend and stainless pipe, BUT on the passenger side of the engine. I think I have only seen one pic but I am wondering what to do as the ECU housing seems to be in the way.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hello and welcome to the club mate :thumbup1:

Here's the pic's of the induction kits that i did Big Grin

There's a couple of options that don't go over the manifold! and both gave about the same intake temps :thumbup1:

long intake kit..

My short kit..

You can use any filter you want on these, as long as it fits on the end of the pipework,(60-65mm) the longer kit is probably better if you go for a bigger style filter, as the short one needs a narrow one to go above the alternator, but should still cost about the same as all you'll do is cut the stainless tube at longer lengths Big Grin

Another thing i cant do is see how to fasten it to the car so the long one doesn't move! (due to not having a car to try it on) but i'm sure when its fitted you'll be able to see what you can do with it

The stainless tube i used came from B&Q, they do 60mm stainless steel table legs at a metre long, for around £10, just need to cut it to the length you need Big Grin

This is an old post of mine mate but gives you some ideas :thumbup1:

Thanks man,
I always prefer a short ram over a longer intake....especially with 63mm diameter...HOWEVER thanks for confirming that intake temps are pretty much the same.

Mind if I ask how long your stainless pipe was for the short kit, just so I can have it cut at the workshop (i don't have a cutter at home).

I have got my eye on an A'PEXi air filter but will see what I get.

Cheers.

Will do a 'Jay's car' thread just so I don't have loads of threads cluttered everywhere.

Thanks.

Think its about 280mm long mate for the short kit? :thumbup1:

Edit, if you click on the pics mate you can enlarge them and most of the measurements are there :thumbup1:

The IS200 has a MAP not MAF mate, so somewhere in the intake manifold i suspect?

oh what a joy. MAF sensors are great, but irritating when it comes to mapping with bolt on forced induction (I have turbo'd a few cars).

I see you are in Dartford. I live next to Lakeside.

Not really mate, we all just meet up at shows, sometimes we get people making their own meets up though, so we should hope to see some this Summer!
