Nah running std system. When I had my IS200 I upgraded the entire system, but then realised that I'd never get to use it as the Mrs and Kids were always in the car. So when I swapped the 200 for the 300 a few weeks later I didnt bother making the same mistake again :p

Marsdendean I think it is worth it if the cost is right . . .

My dad flattened his GS within about 10 mins of having the engine off but radio on etc. He was going on the theory that the 500KG of batteries would store loads of charge, but it only uses a piddly battery to get everything fired up

That doesn't sound right, in a normal car that definitely wouldn't happen, but I've had the radio on in the Prius a lot longer than that and it hasn't killed it?

Yeah, silly me for thinking that a Japanese engineered car that has an engine designed for a quarter of a million miles of faultless driving and that you can rely on to start first time every time, doesn't have the intelligence to realise that I havent been taking things out of the boot for the past 72hours straight :p

Its not only Lexus Jim that suffers this problem, most cars will discharge a battery in 24hrs if boot light or interior light is left on.
On my car tho, I can not arm the alarm if it had detected a boot or door left open. that is one indication that you have left someone not closed.

I'll have to move my detailing gear to the glove box I think as I'm sure that's the reason why I didn't shut the boot properly

(either that or fix my boot so it pops up properly)

Anyways, I'm glad it was just the battery tbh. Started getting worried when it wouldn't even jump start. But that was down to my parents having 30yr old rotten jump leads lol!

This is a common scenario with poor/old jump leads,
The leads/connections are just not capable of carrying a sudden surge of 100+ amps through them. In this situation leave the donor car ticking over for 5-10mins first to put some power back into the flat battery first, this will then help as flat battery has started to accept the amps.
And remember you do not have to sit in the donor car revving it up to increase charge rate, that was in the old days of generators/dynamo's where they did not start to perform unless they were turning ar 2000rpm.

Funny you should say that. My old man was revving the loblocks off his GT4 and it didn't make the slightest bit of difference to the multimeter readings lol.

I didn't have the heart to tell him his efforts were fruitless tho :p
